Managing Patient Prescriptions in CloudMedico

CloudMedico provides comprehensive prescription management functionality to help you create, track, and manage patient prescriptions effectively. This system allows you to record detailed prescription information, manage prescription medicines, and maintain accurate medical records.

Prescriptions Overview

The Prescriptions section is located under the Clinical dropdown menu. It provides tools to view, add, and manage patient prescriptions with detailed information including patient, doctor, date, medicines, and prescription notes.

Prescriptions List View

The Prescriptions List page displays all recorded prescriptions. From here, you can quickly see an overview of patient prescriptions, search for specific entries, and access options to add new prescriptions or manage prescription medicines.

List Overview

The prescriptions list displays key information for each prescription, organized into sortable columns:

- Patient: The name of the patient, with a checkbox for selection.

- Doctor: The assigned doctor for the prescription.

- Date: The date of the prescription.

- Visit: The associated visit (if prescription was created from a visit).

- Actions: Icons for quick actions such as editing, deleting, or printing the prescription.

Adding New Prescriptions

To add a new prescription, click on the 'Add Prescription' button. You will be presented with a comprehensive form to enter the prescription details:

Required Fields

The following fields are required to create a prescription:

- Patient: Select from existing patients or add a new patient

- Doctor: Choose the doctor who is prescribing

- Date: Choose the prescription date using the date picker

Optional Fields

Additional fields provide flexibility and detailed prescription management:

- Notes: Rich text editor for prescription details and instructions

Prescription Medicines Management

After filling the basic prescription information, you can add medicines to the prescription:

- Add Medicine Rows: Click the 'Add Medicine' button to add medicine entries

- Medicine Selection: Select from existing medicines in your practice database

- Dosage: Specify the dosage for each medicine

- Instructions: Add specific instructions for each medicine

- Remove Medicines: Use the remove button to delete medicine entries

Medicine Database Requirements

Before adding prescriptions, you need to ensure your medicine database is populated:

- Add Medicines: Use the Medicines section to add medicines to your practice database

- Medicine Details: Include medicine name, dosage forms, and other relevant information

- Database Management: Regularly update your medicine database with new medicines

Rich Text Editor

The Notes field uses a rich text editor with:

- Formatting: Bold, italic, headings, lists

- Links: Add hyperlinks to external resources

- Lists: Bulleted and numbered lists

- Quotes: Block quotes for important information

Search and Filtering

Efficiently locate specific prescriptions using the built-in search and filtering capabilities:

- Search Filter: Use the search box to quickly find specific prescriptions by patient name, doctor, or medicine

- Column Sorting: Click on any column header to sort prescriptions in ascending or descending order

- Pagination: Navigate through large prescription lists using the pagination controls

Printing and PDF Export

The prescriptions list includes printing functionality:

- PDF Generation: Click the PDF icon to generate a printable prescription

- Professional Format: Prescriptions are formatted for professional printing

- Patient Information: Includes patient details and prescription information

- Medicine Details: Lists all prescribed medicines with dosages and instructions

Visit Integration

Prescriptions can be created in two ways:

- Standalone Prescriptions: Created directly from the Prescriptions section (Visit column shows '-')

- Visit-Related Prescriptions: Created from within a patient visit (Visit column shows the visit reference)

Tips for Effective Prescription Management

To make the most of your prescription management:

- Maintain an up-to-date medicine database

- Use detailed notes for prescription instructions

- Include specific dosages and administration instructions

- Use the PDF export for professional prescription printing

- Regularly review and update prescription records

- Consider creating prescriptions during patient visits for better integration
