Audit Logs, under Settings, shows who opened, created, changed, deleted or exported which record, and when. Use it to answer a question such as "who has seen this patient's information?"
Users whose role has the Manage Practice right: the Admin role by default. A user whose account is limited to some doctors sees only the rows about those doctors' patients, plus the rows that aren't about a patient, such as sign-ins.
- Opened: someone opened a record: a patient, visit, appointment, invoice, superbill, prescription, exam, surgery, discharge, allergy, condition, doctor, user or user role.
- Created, Changed and Deleted: a record was added, saved with changes or deleted.
- Exported: a list or report was exported, with the number of records in it. Exporting the audit log is logged too.
- Signed in and Signed out: staff sign-ins, and patients signing in to the portal.
Lists, the calendar and search results are not logged, even though they show patient names. A row says that someone opened a record, not what they read on it.
Pick the patient in All patients. The list then shows the rows about the patient and about the patient's own records: visits, appointments, invoices, prescriptions, exams and the rest. Narrow it with a user, an action (for example Opened) and dates.
Each row shows the date and time in your practice's time zone, the user, the action, the record and the patient. The record and the patient link to their pages while they still exist. Deleted users and patients are marked (deleted).
Export CSV downloads the rows that match your filters, newest first, as a file you can open in Excel or any spreadsheet. The export itself appears in the log.
